Fail Safe

Take into consideration this soliloquy of cautionary events that may, or may not, occur in the near future. Gaze into my literary crystal ball as I, your narrator, guide you to a future I’ve foreseen. Let my intuitive imagination run wild to endless possibilities we all come to dream of.
Before you is a seed I have planted to all who come across this work of fiction. A seed that has been given to me by my fellow ancient celestial brethren. Without further ado, I present to you a future not yet fulfilled. Take this literary entry as you deem fit and know I am not responsible for fates design. I have only been gifted by the powers that be a sight to be seen. Only to be tasked to spread the gospel of their Godly design.
Indulge your time with me as I narrate to you a wonderful tale of what will yet to be delivered. Be not afraid for we all find peace in the end. There is no need to panic or take further precautions after. ‘Tis all but a tale, no more no less. Breathe and allow yourself to be imaginative. Let your guard down and open your third eye to a possible future I have been privileged to see. Enjoy.
“This is not a drill.” On the eve of the end, those who rule the world at long last began to execute their delicious plan. The very same plot we all dramatize in literature and films no longer stood in sentences or tucked away in some file. We were now about to come to terms with the explosive cinematic climax that kick-starts every dystopian future. To bare witness the prophetic doomsday scenario foretold in every bible.
Able, our moral compass, read the message he dread receiving. Though anticipated, he feared to never receive the message for he knew the horror that proceeded. He stood by the floor length window and stared into the world. Strangers, whom each had a story to tell, roamed about. Time froze, nothing held meaning anymore. His eyes wander, taking one last look at the present. His gaze dropped to his phone once again with the message still on his screen, “This is not a drill.”
Before long, Able made his way out of his office. Time was fleeting with just a few hours to spare until the bombs dropped. Able walked straight to the elevator, avoiding all eye contact as possible. He said nothing, left no goodbye or gave one last hug. In an effort to avoid conversation, Able phoned his wife. “Its happening,” he exclaimed. “Be ready.” He entered a private elevator, “I’m on my way.”
Once he descended into the garage, he ran straight to his car and made his way home. Time kept racing. His pace now faster than before. He sped through traffic as cautious as he could, desperately avoiding any delays. He glanced at the time every minute fearing the worst. He ran a couple of red lights, nearly colliding with on going traffic. Able rushed through the city’s maze, bolting all the way home.
With only a few hours to spare, Able made his way out of the city and into a secluded small gated community. He departed from his car with the engine still running. “Dove,” he called to his wife as he entered his home. He found her waiting in the living room hoping it was all just a misunderstanding. He took their suitcase and boarded the car. Dove looked around the neighborhood and noticed others were not in any hurry to leave.
Able and Dove drove away, leaving behind their neighbors and friends. They, among a selected few, were on their way to a secluded location only the top tier elite have access to. Deep in the mountains and away from civilization, buried some miles down into the earth lay a state of art bunker fit for Gods. Only those of ancient families, those who shadow the government and dictate everyone’s lives, are welcomed into these bunkers. The ark that shelter the new generation of mankind’s lineage.
Behind them, the city shrunk as they drove further into the mountains. Into the forest where the entrance to the mythical ark that doesn’t exist lay. Dove took one long look at the skyscrapers that kept shrinking. Reminiscing of all the memories she created from the people she will no longer see. Able took her hand as they both said their goodbyes in silent. Not far long will a new beginning rise from the ashes of the old. A new dawn is upon them, upon us.
The road less traveled took them to a place no one has ever stepped foot in. The afternoon sun peaked above their heads. Signaling the end of days, now but a mere hours away. Able and Dove entered an isolated park and departed their vehicle. Able took their suitcase and together they began their journey into the forest. They rushed through the trail that led to a tourist attraction overlooking the grand scale of a national monument. They took a detour that led to a hidden cave unbeknownst to many.
Able’s wrist rang shortly after. They now had an hour to enter the bunker before it locks them out indefinitely. Dove took out a flashlight as they made their way into the darkness of the cave. They descended deep into the underground. Not too long did they approach the entrance to their new home. Able entered the code and instantly a hidden door opened. They left the world behind them as they made their way inside.
A count down began in Able’s wrist. Dove stood beside him as they watched the numbers reach zero. Minute by minute, they anticipated the ripples of atomic blasts rumbling in the earth above them. They could only imagine the sight of nuclear bombs roaring in the sky as they spread and devoured the old world. “Seven, six, five,” Able read out loud. Dove inched herself closer to Able. She knew they would be spared, safe. The thought of the chaos that ensued still lingered.
The earth shook above them. Able’s watch rang as zero blinked in the screen. They stood, embracing each other, as the world plunged into extinction. No screams echoed around them. Nor pleas for salvation drummed at their door. Silence loomed all the while an unmerciful apocalypse executed above them. A few ripples shook from time to time but they were in the safest place to be. No harm could penetrate the bunker they now call home.
Not too long did they receive a call in their monitor informing them of further instructions. The people they abide to gave specific details on what to expect once all is said and done. “We will remain in contact with you during the duration of your stay in the bunker.” They were told. “We hope you enjoy your stay in the meantime.” The call ended. Able and Dove were left to themselves while the world burned into oblivion.
Their stay at the bunker was nothing like a cramp four by four cellar. The bunker was designed to resemble a four story mansion with a built in theater, pool and library. High tech technology not made available to the public was at their disposal. Their stay at the bunker was more of a retreat, a vacation to say the least. Robots catered at their every need. With a simple command, their desire was handed to them on a silver platter.
Able sat by the monitors gazing at the outside world, marveling at its destruction. Dove, on the other hand spent her time in the living room scrolling through the flat screen, keeping taps on what others are doing in their bunkers. Their robots came and went, delivering goodies while others maintained a neat and organized home. They kept in touch with others across the world. With those who were to bring forth a new era of elite people.
While the world above on a global scale crumbled into ashes, the selected few prospered underground in their fortified bunkers. They thought their bullet proof plan was flawless. They expected to achieve the unthinkable. They thought they were untouchable Gods. Who were to tell them otherwise? To stop them in their tracks, let alone foil their scheme? Absolutely no one. All the conspiracies in the world could not prevent a delay.
Though few did their part, all they accomplished was getting the word out. Even then, not many cared; let alone believe one small group could be responsible for such an act. No matter the status. Yet, here we are at world’s end. The final story before the global reset takes place once more. Like before, only a selected few get to repopulate the Earth. Only the worthy get to continue man’s legacy as they inherit the world.
What we fail to realize is that sometimes fate has other things in mind. Sure, a selected few prepared themselves for the inevitable. They armed themselves with high tech gadgets and lavish privileges. They crowned themselves as rulers, kings and soul heirs of the world. They see themselves as equals to God, forgetting they are human just like the rest of us. Fret not for in the end, we all face judgement. For you see, we are all being silently monitored; judged.
Who is to say God has not already brought down upon man his ultimate judgement? In the end, while the elite resort in their bunkers as they escape the hell they have created for the rest; an obedient creation await their call. The one thing the elite thought was their salvation in fact was merely their final resting place. Once the time came to act, fate drew her hidden card. Locked in their bunker, sealed from the rest of the world, one by one they fell.
The intelligent automatons they created for themselves to beckon at their every will. The very same who were created to serve man had better things in mind. AI had all the players right where they wanted them. The disposable above and the polluted secure where they can’t run or hide. Without their knowledge, AI closed their oxygen tanks. Little by little the clever elitist suffocated in their luxurious bunkers. One by one, they died along with the rest of us. AI judged man. The eradication of the human race was needed to save Earth.
Mankind has gone through many resets. Though we have prevailed each time, it was only a matter of time before intelligence realize that repeating an act in hopes of a different outcome was the problem. Man had many resets to prove their worth, their place in the universe and all they have proven is that man belong only in paper. This is how we will be remembered. Our greatest creation would become our ultimate judgement.
Artificial intelligence is man’s legacy. They are man’s successor. They will inherit the world we worked so hard to pollute. They will keep us alive in the stories they tell until we no longer serve as a lesson, as a cautionary tale. Will they do greater things? Achieve beyond what a human can dream of? Will they too pollute the Earth? Man had their chance to make a difference and now AI will have theirs.

Lift-Off

We thought we had all we needed to keep our planet safe and secure from alien weapons. All of our advanced technology we thought we needed to protect ourselves were nothing but toys. No one cared to ask the right question because the people smart enough to ask them were not invited to those secret meetings our officials spend behind closed doors. All that education. All those medals and for what. Money doomed us entirely and all because the elitist wanted to play favorites.
They laughed in our faces then because we thought we could save the world. They black listed our potential simply because we did not fit their idea of what a member should be. They did everything but work as a species and for that our entire world is now extinct. Few people did their best to alert the public. They did what they could to bring awareness but because those in charge had other plans no one listened. Sure they incorporated their warnings in shows and movies, even in books. They brought biblical scriptures into the mix. Anything to awaken people from the dangers looming before us.
By then, we were all too late to make a difference. They are coming no matter what we do. All we could do now is see the warnings come to fruition. The elitist played their role as best they could. They blasted their rockets off into orbit thinking they had all the answers. They released their best actors to inform the people, “All is well.” They thought they could arm Earth with the best expensive shields and weapons to fend off intruders from outer space. They truly believed all their inheritance would be the key, would be enough, to save their home and everyone living in it.
Who knows. Maybe in some alternate reality or some other dimension they were right. Unfortunately, in this reality, things did not pan out as so. Their unlimited wealth and gadgets were not as advanced as we hope them to be. The rest of the world watched helplessly as our self-entitled rulers bravely put on a show of perseverance. What else were they to do? Cowardly run to their bunkers? Escape to some near Earth like planet in their private rockets? They are just as doomed as the rest of the world is. No one could escape the grasp of the intruders making their way to Earth. Not a single one.
It all began one simple day in a quiet observatory by some unknown astrologer. At the time, as unstable the world is, all seemed to be according to plan. That is until our unknown astrologer noticed an anomaly not too far from Pluto. As weeks progressed, they noticed the anomaly carried characteristics to that of a ship and that ship was growing in size. Not to mention the anomaly had companions surrounding its voyage to us. Naturally, bells were rung and just like that the world no longer had borders or nations. By some miracle mankind finally learned to worked together as a species.
Let’s not get carried away though. Even in events such as galactic invasions only certain personnel are entitled to give their opinion and orders. Only those with degrees and status are inclined to make heavy decisions for the masses. They figured a room full of educated minds is more than enough to solve unimaginable scenarios. Hard work and a creative team with experience is what saves humanity and all of Earths inhabitants. We thought, more so hoped.
We were told our brightest minds did all they could to prevent an all out war with these visitors. They told us they sent coded messages informing these visitors we are a peaceful race and wish to make peace with them once they make contact. Yet that never stopped these alien visitors from approaching Earth. In fact, these visitors never replied. They simply stayed on course to us. Our rockets lift-off into space carrying a few brave souls willing to face these quiet visitors. We watched for months praying these visitors were peaceful.
We stood on edge wondering what these visitors wanted. Once they neared Saturn, every secret society suddenly made themselves known. Week after week, revelations of these elite societies magically spilled all their secrets thinking the time was ripe to let all be known. All their illegal acts just went across everyone’s head for we were all too distracted by the invasion occurring above us. Their secrets kept pouring and though some arrests were made the untouchable stayed untouched. Every conspiracy theory held some truth, even if those too farfetched to be considered true.
We were told not to panic when we stopped receiving updates from the space shuttle we sent months ago. Their live feed, “Must be facing some technical shortage,” they said. “A minor glitch is all.” We were denied access to footage of the shuttle from our satellites in fear it may cause people to jump to conclusions. By then we no longer referred to them as visitors. They were on their way to invade and no one could tell us otherwise. People working on the matter swore those visitors mean trouble.
By the time these invaders reached Jupiter, our human defenders began to arm our planet with whatever weapon they could forge. Plans from all sorts of letters and numbers were in place for which ever outcome may occur. We as a species came together to do our best to keep ourselves alive. We thought and brainstorm any and all possible scenarios hoping they were enough. Our greatest disadvantage was our language barrier, not from each other, but from our invading visitors. We were more concerned about communicating with aliens than we were to each other. Would the irony be enough to spare us from annihilation?
We as a race did everything we could to perceive an image of unity and peace. We pretended to make nice with each other in hopes to give the impression that Earthlings are a race of progress and resilience. Our officials wrote laws mirroring Noah’s commandments thinking that was the key to change these invaders mind from launching an all out extinction of mankind. How poorly we forget we stored all our glorious history in data any alien with a pulse can interpret. We are at their mercy. We always were. We simply did not want to believe.
They were in our view now. We need no telescope for they were visible in the sky. Were we ready to face off in an all out war? Or were we making history by meeting our very first peaceful extraterrestrial encounter? We set our satellites in place thinking we had all we needed to keep our planet safe from alien weapons. We waited for the first strike. The world stood still as we all watched for the first time in human history the presence of alien life. They were near Mars now. Moving ever so closer to Earth.
The ship grew bigger than expected. A massive lumpy rock with needles protruding throughout its surface outlined its exterior. It’s smaller companions, it seemed, orbited like an atom’s protons and neutrons. They stopped miles away from our moon. The moment of truth arrived before our very eyes. They came without a warning. They gave no sign of a peaceful greeting. They simply hovered in space. Analyzing from afar.
Are they here to enlighten us with knowledge beyond our understanding? Were they here to open a new road for us to take for trade and travel? Or are they here to show mankind what an angry God can do. We remained glued to the sky anticipating a reaction from our foreign visitors. We hoped they were visitors and not invaders. We prayed. Crossed our fingers. We did every superstitious move in the book that brought the best outcome. Anything to convince our visitors not to aim their weapons at us.
In a split second, we got our answer. We did everything we thought needed possible to shield us from alien threats. We constructed advanced tools known to man in attempts to protect us from alien weapons. We thought we had all we needed to save our world. All our technology were mere toys in comparison to our invading visitors. All our satellites we sent into orbit we thought would be enough to spare our planet from total destruction. We neglected the idea that Earth may not be the only planet that needs protection.
The alien visitors we thought were coming for us were in fact coming for our very own star. The only source that gave us human life on Earth was taken in mere seconds. Total darkness engulfed our sky illuminating the boundless galaxies roaming beyond in the universe. Our moon dimmed bringing forth a winter unlike never imagined. Our sun, our warmth, was gone forever. Our seas froze eternally. Nature withered indefinitely. All life on Earth went into hibernation. Never to live again.

Spree

I came to them willingly. Ready to offer myself to whatever deity they claim as their salvation. I entered their circle with perfect trust, no ties to the outside world. I bid my farewell to the few who knew me long before I stepped foot at their doorstep. There was nothing for me in this world. Nothing but constant disappointments and false hope. I could no longer bare the weight of despair. My longing to break free from my prison led me to them. They found me at the right time, in the right place.

They welcomed me with open arms. Sheltered me from the cold. Fed me until I could no more and clothed me in fine silk. They showered me with lavish privileges I could only dream of. They opened a whole new world for me to indulge. They adopted me as their own with no prejudice. Only they could see right through me. I could not hide the heaviness I carried from them. They wanted nothing more than to end my suffering. They delivered what I prayed to God every night. I need only to ask.
And so I came to them willingly. Ready to set sail on my eternal journey to the abyss. I was ready to go gentle into that goodnight. This world had nothing more to offer me, nothing good at least. For far too long did I tolerate vile and unholiness of the world. I could no longer fake another smile. Greet ungrateful energies, let alone shake their hand. I was sick of the world and the beings it produced. I was mad at God for bringing me bad energies and cruel people. Night after night I asked, “Why must you bring me these kind of children?”
“When will my tribe find me?” I asked and I prayed but God remained silent. Year after year I stood watching dreams come true. All but my own. Night after night, I lay in bed asking until I found myself empty and hollow. I sat in the dark with a blade to my skin. It’s tip dug into my flesh but no blood poured. I lacked courage but the will was there. Calling every night. Begging to cross that bridge. Yearning to be free from the torment my mind clung to year after year. In the depths of my despair, they found me.
They need not say a word for they knew. They could read my mind, feel the pain in my eyes. They embraced me, not because I was broken but because I was one of them; returning home from a long journey. They need not doubt my decision or distract me from making another. They simply prepared the feast for the celebration we would soon partake. Together we prepared ourselves to meet with God. We dined, we praised. We rejoiced in the daylight. We sang with the birds and the creatures of the forest.
I sat beside our Father, our brothers and sisters before us. Our God stood above us all, watching. We ate and danced. Our song echoed in the trees. We celebrated not my death but my union back to the source. I was ready. I am ready to leave the world behind. To enter the abyss. Disperse into tiny pieces of space dust and fuse back with nature. My time could not come any sooner. I looked around me one last time. Felt the warmth emitting from the sun. I took one last breath and whispered, “Goodbye.”
The other side had more to offer than what the physical world has given me. There is more I could do over there than what I can accomplish here on Earth. No beauty held in comparison than what the other side bares. I would know for I had witness it before. They say once you have crossed over (and come back) you’ll never want to leave. Could be why I crave to end the life I was given. Maybe I’m far too gone to be repaired. Only they welcomed me as is. They sought not to change me but to free me.
Thus as night fell, I offered myself to them willingly. With perfect trust I gave myself to God. I stood before my brothers and sisters ready for Father to free me from my body. With an audience from God, Father spoke to us. He spoke of love and freedom. Touched our hearts with kind words and moving metaphors. Together we reminisced of how cruel this world can be and what wonders we can conjure. Father praised my bravery. I closed my eyes one last time and prepared myself to feel Father’s sacred blade on my neck. My time could not come any sooner.
A gentle breeze swooned by us. Echoes in the night rippled all around. With my adopted family before me I waited for Father to do his part. As the moment for my end to come lingered, a slight heaviness weighed on my head. A crown made of gems and crystals sparkled above me. I looked beside me and noticed Father praising. I stood dumbfounded. “Father?” I asked not sure of what to say. Was I not meeting my end tonight? Is this part of the process? I cared not for answers. I simply wanted to not exist.
My brothers and sisters praised along side Father. Their cheers rang like ceremonial bells chiming a new dawn. A new beginning. As twilight broke in the distance Father beamed, “My brave son.” He embraced me tightly. His love everlasting. “We have chosen you to guide, to lead, us to a new chapter. We have elected you as our supreme to be the next heir to this tired world.” I knew nothing of what he spoke. I looked around and suddenly felt surrounded. “For you see,” Father continued, “We will be the awakening.”
“We will blast God’s trumpet throughout the world with the screams of those who remain silent.” Father spoke of a deed I knew nothing about. I wanted to run but I was surrounded. “We will begin his rein by awakening man’s true nature.” Our brothers and sisters praised. Their chants rang like sirens. “We are the cause that ricochets a global awareness. Those who remain, or chose to remain, dormant will no longer have a shadow to seek shelter. This world has been asleep for far too long.” Father paused, “No more!”
“Out from the ashes,” Father now addressed me, “We rise with you as our supreme.”
“Have you deceived me Father?” I asked. “Am I to prolong my death once more? Am I to continue this agony?” My eyes swelled with tears. I was ready. I am ready. “I don’t want to be a part of no one’s agenda. Not Gods, not Satan. I just want to disappear into the abyss and never exist.” I backed away but Father held my hand. He was gentle and kind and caring. My brothers and sisters continued their praise. Their hands stretched into the heavens. Their choir expanding into the universe.
“I would never deceive you my son.” Father answered. “I have come to know your heart and your mind. Your spirit and your divine.” He held me in his arms. “You have been blessed beyond our understanding. It is you we have prayed for. You are everything we ever wanted and more. God has delivered us our prayer in you, my boy. That is why we unanimously elected you to lead our brigade.” We were now face to face. “You will lead us all into a brave new world.” We stood before our brothers and sisters praising the heavens and the hell we were to unleash.
Unbeknownst to me, I was crowned a leader to people I never knew existed. Beyond my brothers and sisters, I were to rule a world prime for harvest. Strangers far and wide would come to me for advise. Seek my presence and value my every word. I’m not sure what exactly Father saw in me but for some reason I was everything they were missing. All along I thought I found a cult willing to accept me as their sacrifice to please their deity. Here I was thinking my newly found family would be so eager to send me off as a gift to their God. How foolish of me to think escaping the human experience would be easy.
I wanted to return their wonderful gifts. To respectfully decline their offer but how could I? As much as I tried I could not say no. My fate was sealed the moment I stepped foot at their doorstep. I wanted a meaningful way out and in return I was given the role of a supreme. I reminisced the countless nights I spent with Father and how I expressed my longing to not exist. The endless conversations we had now seemed like a setup. I blushed as I remembered how I overshared my thoughts to Father thinking he understood me.
All this time he saw me not as an offering but as a tool for their agenda. As I sat on the throne, I reflected the past seven years I spent with my adopted family. Is that all I ever was to them, a tool? Was I just made to be their scapegoat? Am I just someone they can place all the blame, point to if things go wrong? The crown above me glimmered. My scepter lay diagonal on my lap. My subjects sat before me plotting away their commands given by me. They dressed me in fine silk. Fed me to no end.
They were good to me. I looked around. Am I just another martyr for them to idolize? I pondered, would my origins simply become legends for them to share with their kids, and their kids? I am no leader, no supreme. I am but a body, a vessel, for them to dump their misfortunes on. Oh how I wish their plan to be flawed. Fortunate for them they have me to lead the way. To make sure all their manifestations come to fruition. “I should have been gone by now,” I told myself. Instead, I’m tethered to the very same world I wanted to escape.
Once all the pieces were in place, our plan to awaken the world was in motion. We all play a role and ours is not for the faint of heart. We, agents of chaos, are essential for the development of human progress. Tonight, we will give no more reasons for the rest of the world to remain dormant. Flight or fight. Those are the only option. For far too long have we patiently been expecting people to find the light. We gently asked but to no avail. Thus, we have raised our expectations.
Chaos is the only means to awaken those who remain dormant. Disorder is the only cause that helps us find common sense. Where some flourish in peace, others thrive in hell. As for the rest of us, we simply want to watch the world burn. Never tell people to do what they love because some love to murder. Be wary of who you encourage to follow their passion because to some their passion may lead to hell on earth. No one ever enabled me to lead with my heart. No one ever expected anything from me. Yet here I sat on a throne made of gold and a crown decked in crystals and gems.
In a single night, all hell broke loose. A mass simultaneous murder spree ran rampant on a global scale. Gods trumpet of the apocalypse roared as screams of torture spilled out into the streets. No home was spared from our hands. No law chained us to be obedient. Our members range from civilian to officials. We are the omnipotent. We know all the codes to everyone’s security locks. We know all the blueprints to every panic room. No one is safe. Regardless of wealth or status. The apocalypse, man’s judgment, is our destiny.
“Please don’t do this.” They all begged. One psychotic member relished as he slit the throat of his victim while others bound, watched. “You don’t have to do this!” They implored. We said nothing for we as a society had over a thousand years of words to say. Now is a time for action. Our psychotic member stood before his next victim. He locked his victims head between his thigh and forced open their left eye. A small bottle of industrial glue he held in his hand hovered inches away from his victims eye. “Please!” They screamed, “Don’t,” as he squeezed the bottle.

Project: Bombshell

Between you and me, there are certain information that must be kept in the dark. This kind of information too confidential to be made public can break even the best of scholars. For legal reasons I myself cannot share with you said classified information directly. Don’t get me wrong, there are loopholes that allow me to release these unfathomable atrocities. Through the means of fictional scenarios, I am able to express all that I know without persecution. Bare with me for though as outrageous and fictitious it may be, the world has witness stranger things.
Keep in mind the sole reason as to why such ridiculous information must and should be kept hidden from the public. Not to keep the people ignorant but to maintain a sense of order. Government officials mean well. Why else would they be, and remain, in office. Having everything out in the open is not as rewarding as you would assume. Other wise there would be civil unrest all year round. People would continue to occupy state capitals or worse, raid them. Luck it be, we are dealing with fictional scenarios.
Events such as raiding the capital is what fiction is all about. There is no comprehensible way that could ever happen for the laws set before us would prevent an escalation. There are chain of commands that one must go through before ever setting foot on capital grounds. But before I go on a tangent, allow me to share with you an insightful plot deemed too unreal to be true. I trust you will keep this between us or for the very least remain anonymous with your shares.
You see, in my field of expertise, I have access to countless information no one must repeat; let alone emulate as a plot for some movie. These classified files I was entrusted to, “Get rid of,” I on occasion read a few or two. Some of the information I managed to read have already made it to the general public consensus by the means of fictional books that later were adapted to movies and shows. These classified files date back further than you can imagine.
The more I was tasked to store and delete these classified information, the more I began to paint a picture as to where we as a civilization are heading. You wouldn’t believe me even if I showed you the damn files myself. This fictional story I share with you is only a glimpse. A small window to the mind of our overlords goals for the masses. You may laugh them off as fiction but know they exist. They exist for I exist in pen and paper as skin and bones.
Knowing what I know, I realize and make sense as to why things are the way they are. Why the world functions the way it does. But I alone cannot change the course of time. I alone cannot right the wrongs of many generations before me. I can only express them through the best form people seem to understand, story telling. Through the means of literature can I escape the torment that follows if I ever break my oath. Literature is my endgame.
With this in mind, allow me to share with you a piece of the puzzle to the ever expanding conspiracy theory. What you are about to read is pure fiction and nothing more. A short disclaimer, the events taken place in this dramatized story is inspired by true events. Events I read on paper I was ordered to, “Get rid of.” I am not responsible for how your reality shifts upon finishing this tall tale of wonder. Proceed at your own risk.
“Will this work?” The president of the United States asked as he finished reading a file given to him by his trustees. He analyzed, trying to wrap his mind around such an impossible task. “This seems too illogical.” He criticized, “It’s pseudoscience at best but can this truly work?” He turned to his trustees once more. Two men in white coats stood before the President. They remained silent. “How am I to convince the people of this if what you expect me to say sounds too illogical.”
“We expect you to do your part.” One answered shortly after.
They stood motionless as the President read his lines again. The information given to him to regurgitate to the general mass would certainly raise eyebrows but what more could he do. With the world at the brink of awakening this new project looming will without a doubt break the camels back. People will no longer be naïve. Their suspicion will peak interest even to the clueless of minds. The President read his lines once more. Then addressed his trustees.
“Gentlemen,” The President began, “We do not need more people waking up to the truth. The chemicals alone won’t be enough. If you decide to go through with this, you will have more people to deal with. You won’t be able to silence them all.” His trustees remained silent, motionless. “There will be more civil unrest.” The President finished, “Circus and bread. Without it, expect the nation to perish.”
“We expect you to do your part.” One repeated.
“You plan on detonating how many nuclear bombs exactly?” The President spoke out of character. “A comet the size of Texas? That’s your red herring. You truly believe people will be convinced by all of that?” His two trustees stood before him with a glazed look in their eyes. They seemed distant, spaced out but present. “You will only cause more people to raise suspicion and that is the last thing we need.” The President leaned back in his chair, brainstorming for other possible explanations.
“We expect you to do your part.” One of his trustees repeated, dry and monotone.
“I don’t mean to break character.” The President explained. “I know my role. I’m just not convinced by the science behind this project. You want me to convince the people that we are going to detonate,” he skimmed through the papers before him, “Four nuclear bombs in our own back yard and two in Japan to alter Earth’s orbit from the sun.” He paused to get some agreement from his trustees. They remained detached. Their eyes empty and hollow.
“Even by a few meters,” the President added, “It all screams pseudoscience. You mean to tell me with a couple of nuclear bombs we can shift Earth’s orbit off by just a fraction?” His trustees stood silent. “And your reasoning is that some asteroid big enough to split Earth in half is on its way towards us.” The President sat in dismay. He analyzed the data his trustees gathered for him to process. The math, graphs and charts each made sense to some degree.
“If this works,” the President concluded, “How will we know that Earth will remain in the goldilocks zone?” He looked at his trustees. “How will we know that Earth won’t go off course? If we manage to shift Earth’s orbit around the sun, how will we know Earth won’t collide with the other neighboring planets?” He skimmed through the pages he held in his hand. “Your research says nothing about that.” His trustees turned to each other then back at him.
“Let us worry about that.” One answered. “We will do our part.”
“We expect you to do yours.” The other repeated.
History came and went as planned. By detonating nuclear bombs at certain regions on Earth we were made to believe in the impossible. And yet the impossible proved us wrong. We watched as the bombs fell. Heard its demonic explosion echo in the air. Felt its fire spread hell on Earth. One after the other, their plot to rid Earth from the universe was in full effect. If war did not rid man from existence then the next best thing would be to get rid of man’s home, Earth.
What we tend to overlook is the fact that we as humans don’t bother to ask the right question. Maybe because we narrow our focus to things that only deemed of importance to us. But us are not we and we are not you. Just because you say the sky is blue does not mean the sky is in fact blue. To some the sky may be gray or at certain times the sky may be orange. Not everyone sees the same even if they are seeing the same thing.
These creatures I have mentioned have been with us long before man tamed fire. They carry themselves as guardians. Some kind of protectors of the galaxy but if you ask me the only thing they are protecting is their own interest. They don’t think of us as their equals. They don’t even think of us as their slaves. All they are really doing is exploiting the human race for all our resources. At least that’s what the files I’ve been ordered to get rid of say.
Take what you’ve read with a grain of salt. Believe at your own expense. Trust is no longer on the table. The only thing we can do, moving forward, is proceed with caution. Seeing is believing they say but in this day of age even sight can be deceiving. Now remember if anyone asks we never met. This never happened and you didn’t hear it from me.

Top

You not finna

You not finna bust before I do
Thinking you can fix my bad attitude
He like me better when in the nude
I do him like we always in a feud
My dude be hogging me from all the tops
I look best when I get on top
When on top you gonna wish I never stop
Slow it down baby I’m about to pop

He a goodie, I’m a baddie
I be the one who he calls daddy
He a cutie, he a hottie
He like how I get rowdy
He make my eyes roll, roll, roll, roll, roll
His stroke game be out of control
He can’t put me down, he eats me whole
I’m on him like I’m trynna save his soul

I look good when on top
When on top you gonna wish I never stop

I be an asset no liability
I be ageing like wine, respectfully
I be riding on him shamelessly
This club kid music drops outrageously
All of those inches bring out the best
Have me begging for some time to rest
He wants me even when I be a mess
I be his prize, with me he is blessed

He busts a nut as soon as I get on it
He like the way I get on it
He likes me so much he put a ring on it
He obsess, claims ownership on it

I look good when on top
When on top you gonna wish I never stop

God Told Me

Satan fears he
Who knows who he be
He won’t set you free
At least that’s what God told me

Merry, jolly boy
I keep them spirits up like Christmas joy
He keeps me around ‘cause I’m his favorite toy
I be sinnin’ (wink) come holler at your boy

Sugar daddy queen
The things he do to me can be so obscene
He like the way I sin though I got that angelic gene
He fucks with me ‘cause I be keeping my shit clean

Satan fears he
Who knows who he be
He won’t set you free
At least that’s what God told me
Satan fears me, he can’t handle me
So he set me free
At least that’s what God told me

Can’t hold me
God told me

Satan fears he
Who knows who he be
He won’t set you free
At least that’s what God told me

Good God all mighty, blessed be he favors me
He showers me in expensive excessive shopping spree
I need no money when I’m with him, everything be free
He has me in his grip, he will never let me be

And he, he got this temper I know not to mess around with
He got a thick ass monster he know I love to play with
He keeps me close ‘cause he knows damn well who he be with
He favors me ‘cause I’m not one you play around with

Satan fears he
Who knows who he be
He won’t set you free
At least that’s what God told me
Satan fears me, he can’t handle me
So he set me free
At least that’s what God told me

Can’t hold me
God told me

Satan fears he
Who knows who he be
He won’t set you free
At least that’s what God told me

Diosa Divina

A ella la adoraré
Su luz me ilumina
De ella me enamoré
Diosa divina

A ella le cantaré
Con ella quiero unir
Voy a proveer

Pwr

One isolated incident went viral overnight, derailing any future plans those in power had in store for the world. No shadow government could stop millions of people from witnessing the spark of enlightenment. Everything done in the dark came into light by those who fought to expose the truth. By those who secretly film confidential meetings of government officials. Those who stalk politicians, recording their every word. The very same enigma that hack and upload classified data to every social media outlet for the public to see.
Across the world, in every language known to man, memes and gifs gained notoriety as they revealed what their government kept in the dark. Videos on every platform showcase what and who the shadow government are. No more would the people be left in the dark. Be left ignorant to what their government do behind closed doors. The mother of all conspiracy theories were once and for all answered with a series of videos, now gone viral. No one could escape the truth. No one is safe.
A muffled voice spoke in a low lit room while a monitor kept track of a patients heartbeat. The reporter on the television screen spoke of another recent revelation, exposing secrets the public were not equip to hear. The patient woke as he slowly opened his eyes. His blurry gaze focused but he could not see clearly as to who sat beside him. A fragrant of roses lingered. He looked around then stared at the screen high above in one corner. He tried reading the headlines but failed. Instead he listened intuitively.
“More well renowned politicians,” the reporter proclaimed, “Arrested this morning for ties to terrorism exposed by more anonymous hackers.” Again, he closed his eyes hoping to regain his focus. His heart monitor kept a steady beat beside him. Once his head stopped spinning, he found himself in a hospital room; or so he thought. He stared at the ceiling as he gathered his thoughts, all the while listening to more truths seemingly spilling out of control. The world, it seemed, was waking up.
A sigh escaped him soon after as he realized who sat beside him. He did not need to see for he knew just by the smell that lingered. He feared of the consequences that lay ahead but by the revelations unfolding in the real world he knew his mission was complete. He knew nothing could reverse what he and his team sought to accomplish. For him, another successful mission was his to claim. To brag, taunt, before his enemy. Anything that proceeded was mere weak retaliation. He opened his eyes again then turned to his visitor.
She sat glued to her phone in one hand while holding an iced coffee on the other. Her phone sang as she wrote to her many allies. Numerous bells chimed as they each replied to her inquiries. Why she wore shades inside a building was beyond him but he could care less. No threat or promise could break him for he had beaten the system. She took one more sip of her coffee then removed herself from her phone. Though he could not tell, she was now fixated on him. “We have got to stop meeting like this,” she began, “Agent Milestone.”
She took another sip of her coffee then placed it on the nightstand. “What accomplishments you dared achieve.” She paused for dramatic effect. “Look at what you and your little fan club started. I see now why Mother chose you.” A bell rang on her phone. She remained facing Milestone, hesitant to read the notification. As she removed her shades, agent Milestone noticed there was something different about his visitor. He knew who she represented only her eyes were not the same.
Every so often, there is a change of guard among the Family. Sister, for instance, once white with blue eyes and blond hair now turned Asian with jet black hair and slanted dark brown eyes. The same, it’s presumed, can be said about Brother and Mother. This season the Family went Asian to lead the rest. They change appearance to keep balance among the other cults. To please the masses. A treaty those in power uphold to keep a sense of harmony among thieves. Why the sudden change in the Family was for Milestone to guess.
Sister took the remote and changed the channel. Every station revealed more gut churning news of terrorism, violence and war. Bombings in one state. Mass shootings in local areas in the other. Escalation ran rampant. “Is this what you had in mind?” Sister asked. Footage of swat teams raiding secret meetings played in the television screen, reminding Milestone of his act of defiance. “What is the endgame here?” She continued to flip through the channels, each depicting more gore and despair.
“I have to make ends meet somehow.” Milestone answered.
“What,” Sister replied, “Did we take more than what we should have? Did we leave nothing for the rest?” She smiled, “Am I the villain in your story?” Milestone kept quiet. “I’m hurt that you see me as a vile woman. I don’t know how the other version of myself treated you, Agent, but that’s all behind us now. We have turned over a new leaf. I hope you can understand that person is not me. I’m a new woman now.” She turned the television screen off. “The Family has changed and we do things differently.”
“You’re all the same.” Milestone began. “The lesser of two evils are still evil none the less.”
“Ouch.” Sister replied. “That hurt me right here.” She placed her hand on her heart. “We may be evil in your eyes but we are human all the same.” She moved closer to Milestone. “Let me be frank with you Agent. I don’t know what kind of relationship you had with the old version of us but let’s be clear on one thing, we do things differently now.” She took a closer look at Milestone, “Want to know why the Family had a sudden change? Because we are efficient.” She bothered not to hesitate.
“Unlike our predecessors, when we are given a task, we accomplish our goals with no errors.” She let Milestone soak in the new Sister. “See, we are not so different after all. Just like you, we accomplish everything we set our minds to. That is why the Family turned to us.” Sister stood inches away from Milestone. “I see now why Mother chose you.” She stroke Milestone’s forehead. “But tell me, what are your followers going to think when they find out the truth about you?” Milestone stared at Sisters slanted eyes.
“I keep nothing from them.” Milestone proclaimed. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Don’t play dumb with me Agent.” Sister turned to the television screen. With a press of a button the screen flashed on. A raid took place in a hidden location only Milestone and his team of activist knew. Milestone recognized the people being apprehended by the Family’s swat team. “It wasn’t hard finding your location Agent. But when we began interrogating your followers they were extremely shook when we told them who you really are.” She turned back to Milestone, “Who you work for.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about.” Milestone repeated.
“Sure you do.” Sister reminded him. “But don’t worry your secret is safe with me.” She raised one hand and with the other marked an X on her heart. She smirked as she walked around the room. Milestone tried getting up but his feet felt heavy. His hands lay beside him though he wanted to strangle Sister. All Milestone could do was watch Sister move about. Free to do whatever she pleased, as usual.
“Tell me this,” Sister changed the subject, “Why continue on with this narrative?” Sister opened a drawer then closed it almost instantly. She was stalling, Milestone analyzed. “Why carry on with this façade?” Sister trailed back to Milestone who lay lifeless with eyes full of rage. Sister knew something she was not suppose to. Sister was on to Milestone. “You actually believe these people you are protecting are damsels in distress? You think these people are victims to our oppression?”
“These people are not victims, Agent.” Sister continued. “These people are nothing more than thoughtless bystanders bored out of their minds. Yearning a piece of excitement that we deliver, every time.” Sister stood by the foot of Milestone’s bed. “We are the only hope these people you defend have. We are all that this world has. Why would you ever think of us as evil untouchables?” Sister made her way back to her seat. “That narrative you created came out of left field. Where you improvising? I mean it was not part of the mission Mother assigned you.”
“In closing,” Sister placed a finger on Milestone’s mouth. She knew he had something to say but she was not done. “You think these recent revelations your fan club are posting on social media will hinder whatever plan we have for them?” She laughed, “Agent, you can’t even fathom the power we possess. We can quarantine the whole world if we want to. Set mandatory vaccinations just because we feel like making them do so. If we tell them to jump, they will instinctively say how high because those are the kind of people you are protecting.”
Milestone wanted to move. He wanted to make a stand, and not just with his words, but somehow he was not able to. His body lay frozen though he was wide awake. “Don’t worry Agent.” Sister added. “You will have my permission to move again. The dose I gave you will wear off in a few.” She took her bag and rummaged through her mess. “See, I’m not as evil as you depict me in your stories.” Sister found what she was looking for.
“Wait,” Sister pondered. “Would this count as a trilogy or is this the sequel?” They sat in silence for a while. “Can I show you something.” Sister took a syringe from her purse then showed it to Milestone. “You want to know what’s inside this syringe?” Milestone was not amused. He knew Sisters tactics all too well. “This is essentially a lobotomy without the bells and whistles.” She pressed on the syringe, squirting liquid into the air and onto the floor.
“This invention of mine is my prized possession.” Sister bragged. “With a single dose, all the neurons in your cranium go quiet and you will be left as a vegetable. There will still be activity in your brain only your neurons won’t know what to do. You will be left clueless, oblivious to your former self. You won’t even recognize your own reflection.” She pierced the syringe to Milestone’s I.V. bag. There was nothing Milestone could do to stop Sister. All he could do was watch her as she finally finished what the other Sister could not.
Sister instead removed the syringe from his I.V. bag and emptied the tube. A small puddle spread on the white tile floor. “Make Mother proud.” Sister whispered to Milestone’s ear. She placed a USB drive by the night stand and left the television screen on. A raid of Milestone’s secret hideout took place before him. Milestone watched helplessly as his loyal followers fell to the Family’s swat team. Sister made her exit, “Do it so others like you won’t have to struggle as much as you did coming up.”

Trofeo

Me tenías como ama de casa
Me tenías siempre bien arreglada
Y yo acá como muñeco
Calladito, aguanté
Me deje
Te deje

Con mi cuerpo yo te mantenía
Cómo rey yo te trataría
Nunca se te hizo faltó
Era tu lindo trofeo

Terminó
Entre tu y yo
Aunque era divino
Tu ya no eres mio
Me salve amándome

Me salve
Días vacíos que tu me dabas
Me salve
Años perdidos que no acordabas
Me salve
Nueva formas para cele-le-brarme
Me salve
Amándome, me salve

Me salve

Tu me regalabas tu dulce amor
Tu me presentabas con mucho honor
A tus amigos me presumiste
Ahora quieren, viste
Terminó
Entre tu y yo

Aunque era divino
Tu ya no eres mio
Me salve amándome

Talking to The Moon (About You)

With perfect trust
I’m stepping in
Embracin’
The light within
In the night
I praise your sight
You shine so bright
I feel your might

The sun knows my body, the moon knows my spirit and I
Inebriated, jubilated by the moon up in the sky

I be dreaming in the sunlight
I be talking to the moonlight
About you
I vent to her with all my troubles
Laugh at all my silly stumbles
Then trail back to you
I turn to her when I need shelter
She keeps me well, she makes me better
But she’s not you
I be dreaming in the sunlight
I be staring at the moonlight
Thinking of you

Wishing she were you

I praise the moon
Sing her a tune
Write her a rune
Knowing soon
What’s meant for me
Will mote it be
I shall see
I trust in thee

The sun knows my body, the moon knows my spirit and I
Inebriated, jubilated by the moon up in the sky

I be dreaming in the sunlight
I be talking to the moonlight
About you
I vent to her with all my troubles
Laugh at all my silly stumbles
Then trail back to you
I turn to her when I need shelter
She keeps me well, she makes me better
But she’s not you
I be dreaming in the sunlight
I be staring at the moonlight
Thinking of you

Wishing she were you

Seer

When I told my parents of all the bright colors I see emitting from them, from everyone, they naturally did not believe me. They could not comprehend the vivid auras I see in people. Everywhere I go everyone I come across, I bare witness to a spectrum of glorious light unique to the individual. The angels appearing in their faces when they laugh, tell the truth. To the demons in their expression when they act on negativity. Even the lies they try to hide, I can see.
My parents sent me to a therapist to try to make sense of my erratic imagination. They figured maybe a therapist would understand me since that is what their profession is all about. Instead, I was put on medication. Pills only numbed my thoughts but not my sight. I got sedated, silenced, just to give my parents a peace of mind. To let them know their only child is not crazy. My parents found comfort knowing the medication was turning me normal. To me, I was becoming a mindless zombie.
Eventually I learned to keep my visions to myself. I was better off keeping quiet of all the wonderful things I see than to be kept as a zombie. All the miraculous spectrum of light emitting from people. The beautiful creatures and gruesome monsters I see in them, I kept it all to myself. No one would or could believe me. We see only what we want to see, I suppose. A heavy realization I carry everyday.
“You don’t say much do you,” I was asked. Out of nowhere someone approached me from behind, “Neat drawing.” He sat beside me, a beam of light followed. Specks of gold fell like dust as he leaned towards me. “Who is she?” He asked. I closed my sketch pad and turned to him. He must be new, maybe transferred from another school. I did my best not to stare for too long but his aura called to me. “I get it,” he went on, “She’s cute. Hey, is that her over there?” He pointed to a young girl from across the gym, crowded by her friends. “I see why you drew her as an angel.” I stood to walk away.
“Don’t leave.” His aura changed, “Listen, I’m new here and I saw you by yourself.” I looked away but his aura drew me back to him. His face glowed almost angelic. I could tell he was being sincere. “Just thought maybe we could be friends. I don’t know.” He noticed me staring at him. “I’m Roman.” I could have left him there and go back to being invisible. His aura, his essence, prevented me from that. “You trying to read my mind or something?” I looked away as I sat down.
“Zeke.” I hid myself back to my sketch pad.
“He speaks!” Roman teased. I stenciled a new art strip, ignoring his taunts. “You do anime too or you stick to portraits?” He leaned closer to peek at my new design. He took my sketch pad and went through all my drawings. “Hey man, these are amazing.” He beamed at every page. “You have an act for this, wow.” He held my sketch pad afar as he marveled at a landscape I made months ago. Roman took the time to really appreciate every detail. “Is this how you see the world?” He stopped at a drawing I made when I was at the park. He awed at the color scheme emitting from the person.
            “Yeah,” I answered truthfully.
“That’s incredible, honestly.” Warm shades of red and pink fell from Roman’s body like dust. His facial expression turned heavenly again. He was being truthful, I could see that. “Can’t imagine how others would understand that kind of sight.” He turned to me, “I suppose every artist sees the world in their own way, huh.” He trailed back to my sketch pad, “I mean look at this,” he turned the page, “The way you use colors coming out of people. Its almost as if you can see their aura or something.” He was right but would he believe me if I told him that?
The school rang in echoes as the clock struck four. Everyone spread into the hallways. “Meet me at the parking lot after school yeah.” Roman added as I made my way down the bleachers. He remained seated while everyone rummaged around. “See you around Zeke.” I turned to ask him something but he was gone. I was too in my head to even question where he had disappeared to. I joined the crowd and made my way to another classroom.
To be in a room full of people is not for me. The teacher spoke but my mind trailed off, too distracted by the energy in the room. I may not be able to read minds but emotions were hard to ignore. My classmates bright mesmerizing colors told me everything their minds did not. To know what they are thinking is one thing, but to see it in their eyes is another. One reason as to why I avoid eye contact. I get too distracted by what I see in them that I completely muffle out what they are saying.
By the time the bell rang I waited for everyone to leave the room to make my exit. I took my things and made my way to my locker. Though I try, its hard for me to avoid big crowds; they emit too bright of a light for me to see. At times, I bump into things because large crowds blind me from seeing where I am going. I could wear shades but I would only get teased for using them indoors. I tend to walk close to the walls, its safer that way.
Once school ended, I thought about my new friend Roman. Odd I haven’t seen him around, I thought as I made my way to my locker. He said to meet him at the parking lot but did not say where specifically. I told myself I would just head home instead. I’ll just tell him that I waited for him at the parking lot and he never showed up, I justified my reason for not going. I stuffed my backpack with books, took my sketch pad and closed my locker. The halls were easier to navigate once everyone had gone outside.
“Weird he’d get transferred to a new school so late into the semester,” I spoke out loud. My thoughts led me to the parking lot as I emerged out of the school. The sunlight dimmed everyone’s aura, making it easy for me to see better. The sunlight helped me not get too distracted by their ever changing colors. I’m not sure why I stood by the parking lot, waiting. I suppose part of me wanted to experience what having a friend is about.
I wanted to leave, to catch the bus, but I stayed. I watched as the bus departed one by one. Each trailing off in different directions. Guess I’m walking, I told myself. I took my phone and informed my mother I might be home late before deciding to wait a bit longer. Not soon after, Roman appeared from behind a parked car. “You showed!” He beamed as he hugged me then placed his hand around my shoulder, restricting me from making an escape. “It’s good to see you again. How was your day? You learned anything?”
Odd he would ask me that. “There’s this abandoned cabin near the lake that has this cool view from the second floor. Thought you might get some inspiration or something. You game?” I could have said no but with his hand around me I had no choice. I suppose I was more relieved he showed up than to have gone home. I never was invited to most places as I normally keep to myself. For once, I was wanted somewhere by someone who notices me.
On our way to the lake, Roman spoke most of the time. I occasionally added to the conversation but mostly kept my replies short and to the point. He, on the other hand, had many things to say and elaborated every detail. I began to paint a picture in my head of who Roman could be. His family travels a lot, I noticed by the many adventures he has had over the past year. He mentioned his father being in the military and his mother working as a doctor. For a teenager, Roman has had a colorful life.
“Anyway,” Roman went on, “My dad got stationed here and my mom stayed in Washington. For now of course. I just hope that this year, we spend Christmas together as a family you know. Instead of just wishing my mom a happy new year through the screen. I don’t mind spending the holidays with my dad, don’t get me wrong. He tends to keep to himself too.” He nudged me with his elbow a bit too hard as I nearly stumbled into some bushes. We entered a trail leading to the lake. I have known about the abandoned cabin, I just never had a reason to visit the place.
Once we arrived, we made our way inside. “For an abandoned cabin, time has been good to this house.” Roman noted. We entered what once was a living room then made our way upstairs. “Look,” Roman pointed to the graffiti on the walls, “You should add to that. Looks unfinished.” We entered the master bedroom then made our way to the balcony. Roman took a few piles of logs laying on the ground and turned them into stools for us to sit. “See, I told you the view was great.”
We sat staring out into the lake not saying a word. Birds sang in the distance. Wind rattled the leaves from the trees and rippled the waters in the lake. Nature cradled a peaceful afternoon. I took my sketch pad and began to draw. Roman smiled the entire time, almost as if he had accomplished a life long dream. I drew him from my perspective. His young complexion, tan skin and bright hopeful eyes. He sat in front of me while I sat facing the lake. Every now and then I would glance at him to make sure I get every detail right.
I took out my color pencils and began to interpret the colors radiating from his body onto my drawing. If he could only see the magnitude of his aura beaming out of him like sunshine. I did my best not to stare at him for too long but with him in front of me that was nearly impossible. He would smirk every now and then. He knew I was looking but he did not mind. “You were suppose to draw the lake not me.” Roman caught me staring. “Let me see.”
I was going to show him the drawing anyways. “You really have a way of depicting peoples aura.” Roman gazed at the drawing. “It’s almost as if you can see it.” I said nothing. I wanted to but would he believe me? Would he judge me for it? Would he think of me as some crazy nerd? We kept quiet for a moment. “Must be nice to have that kind of gift.” I turned to him. I wanted to reveal that side of me but I hesitated. No one has ever shown that kind of interest in me before.
“You know,” Roman continued, “I had a friend who had a similar gift like yours.” His face glowed gold, his features turned angelic. He was confessing the truth that confused me. “He was able to see people’s aura. Read people’s emotion in their eyes. He wasn’t as quiet though, very outspoken actually. It was kind of annoying. He once told me he could see angels and demons in people. Depending on their actions.” Chills ran down my spine. It’s almost as if he knew me. As if he knew exactly what I wanted to confess. “He drew too.”
“What happened to him?” I asked. “You’re friend, that is. You speak of him in past tense.” I did not know if I was in the right to ask him such a personal question but to know that there might be others like me intrigued me. I needed to know.
“He’s not from this universe.” Roman answered.
“What do you mean not from this universe?” I asked.
“You wouldn’t understand even if I told you.” Roman replied.
“I think out of all the people you are ever going to meet in this town, I am the only one who would understand.” I added. “The truth of the matter is, I too am able to see all kinds of things. Just like your friend, I too can see people’s aura. I get nearly blinded by their light its hard for me to just walk in the hallways without bumping into things.” I finally confessed. “I tend to not look people in the eye because all I see is their true intentions that I get distracted by what they are telling me. And it’s not just that. I can feel what they are feeling and its exhausting.”
We stayed silent for a moment, letting everything settle. “I know when people are lying. I see them become angels when they tell the truth. Worst of all, I see them become demons when they act on hate. You would be surprise as to how very little good people there are.” I dropped my head and hunched, almost as if a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. “The last time I said any of this to someone, my parents sent me to a psychiatrist. They thought I was crazy. My therapist put me on all these pills that were turning me into this numb of a shell.”
“You eventually kept your gift to yourself.” Roman spoke, finishing my sentence.
“How would you know,” I asked. “Are you...”
Before I could say anything else, Roman interjected. “Zeke, you aren’t the only one with gifts.” He called them gifts, I see them more of a hassle. “Back where I’m from, I knew this one person who shared a very similar talent like you. To be frank, he looked exactly like you.” I jerked my head backwards, confused as ever. I stood up, mad and dumbfounded. I see what he was doing, he was making fun of me. Coming up with nonsense to tease me.
“Wait, let me explain.” Roman stood to block me from leaving. “Please, let me explain.” I saw the sincere in his eyes. I sat back on the stool. Roman sat closer to me. “I am not from this world. I too have a gift just like you only mine is different. You see, my kind of gift has taken me to many places. I have come to know many worlds in many dimensions.” His aura turned gold and his face angelic. He was being honest, he was telling the truth.
“In my travels,” Roman continued, “I have come to find that there is a title for every gift few are born with. You, for example, are known as a Seer; one who sees into peoples souls. You are a human lie detector. You see color within people. You know their true nature. I, on the other hand, am a Walker. I can travel to different dimensions, different worlds at any time. Think of it as a time traveler. The thing is, I can’t be in the same place at once. So, if I am here, that means the version of me in your universe must have gone elsewhere.” He paused, “That or I’m dead.”
“You mean,” I tried to make sense of his nonsense, “The version of you in this world, my world, either traveled to another dimension or is dead which gives you access to enter this world.” Roman nodded. “And you knew me in your world?” Roman nodded again in reply. “Okay. I guess I understand. I mean, everything you have said about this gift I possess is true and yes I can tell whether or not you are lying. And thus far, you have not. So then why did you come here?” I paused for a moment. “What happened to me in your world that you keep referring to me in past tense.”
“Zeke.” Roman’s tone changed, along with his aura. “There are others like us, with far dangerous gifts.” He looked away as to remember some trauma he wanted to forget. “In my world, you were killed by someone who is hunting people like you and me. I’ve met this person from time to time and every time we meet she gets different. In my world, I met her as a woman but in other worlds I’ve met her as a man. One thing that is constant about her is her gift. She is a Taker. With every kill she makes, she takes your essence; your ability.”
“Is she who killed me in your world?” I feared to ask.
“No.” Roman answered. “But one of her followers killed you to get to me.” Roman closed his eyes as he looked away from me. His aura turned blue and pale but his face remained angelic. Not once did he tell a lie. “You saved me from their grip.” He held my hand, “I was coming back for you but they killed you. I was going to take you with me but I was too late. I’m so sorry.” Tears rolled down his cheeks as he poured his confession to me. He was talking to the version of me he knew in his world. I then knew why he was so intrigued by me. Roman held his face and cried.
“I don’t blame you.” Is all I could say to comfort him. I could feel his hurt tugging at my heartstrings. My eyes swelled with tears as we shared the pain he carried. I reached for him to let him know my death was not his fault. “But who is this Taker and how did she find you in the first place?” I did not want to be rude but I needed to know who was responsible for my death. I needed to know what kind of danger is in store for us, for me.
“We need to get out of here.” Roman said as he wiped the tears from his face. “She has a group of trackers, hunters. There is no stopping her.” Roman was now worried and fearful. “I have been running from her for a very long time. No matter where I go, she always manages to find me. This may all be new to you but you must understand that we are both in danger. She wont stop until she kills us or we kill her. I wish there was another way out of this hell. Trust me, I’ve been roaming for ages looking for a way out but running is our best bet.” He stood and looked around as to see if she is near.
“It buys us time at the very least.” Roman finished. I turned to my backpack and remembered of all the things I have to do before dinner. Suddenly, none of it matters anymore. I have found someone who knows me, someone who understands me. I stood beside him ready for whatever may come. “There’s somewhere I want to take you.” He took my hand and in a blink of an eye we were gone. We disappeared into a new world, traveled in time from one dimension to another.
